Inger Jirby was born in the far north of Sweden where she began painting as a young girl and never stopped. Influenced by her first hero, Van Gogh, and the big colorists, Matisse and Bonnard, her paintings are expressionistic in technique, using the paint freely and loosely with vibrant contrasted complementary colors. She has been painting for over 40 years through a gypsy lifestyle that took her to Mykonos, Ecole des-Beaux-Artes in Paris, Venice, West Indies, New York and finally to Santa Fe and Taos. Inger Jirby is represented by five major museums in the U.S.A.
