Ann has been an artist most all her life. Primarily self-taught, her first and only formal training was through a junior high-school scholarship to Choinard Art Institute. Over the years she has explored acrylic, water color and charcoal with various levels of success. Along the way she began working in three dimensions-primarily with polymer clay. Only recently has she returnes to painting, having discovered pastels. One month after picking up the medium her entry won a "First in Show" at the 2002 Taos Open exhibition featuring over 250 works of art. She is very excited about pastels, which allow her to dive into the work-smearing it all over herself, the furniture, and the dogs, carving out of the background her enthusiasm and love for the American West.
